Summary:
This position is responsible for performing a variety of general administrative and complex clerical duties designed to expedite the functions, actions, judgments, processes and procedures associated with the office of the Justice Court.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, trains, and evaluates the work of assigned Justice Court Clerk staff.
Directs, coordinates, and reviews Justice Court operations; meets with the staff to identify and resolve issues; assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures, and implements improved practices and procedures as needed.
Monitors and approves time sheets and authorizes leave requests.
Maintains court files for compliance with court orders.
Maintains the Judge's calendar and schedule.
Attends weekly court sessions to assist the Judge.
Manges the users for the CORIS system Answer questions and telephones calls related to the Justice Court Perform routine administrative duties related to coordinating the daily functions of the justice court and ongoing maintenance of records, Maintain a productive working environment which includes, but is not limited to, a spirit of cooperation with co-workers, peers and the public, Perform other duties as assigned by the City Recorder and/or Justice Court Judge.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process; Administrative and clerical procedures, systems such as Microsoft Word, CORIS, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms and other office procedures.
Skilled in office management duties; composing correspondence; handling multiple projects with interruptions; prioritizing and organizing workload to meet deadlines.
Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store and maintain information in written or electronic form; communicate effectively, orally and in writing using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include:
High School Diploma or GED; AND Two to four (2-4) years' experience working in a Justice Court; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
